Coalition has no cause to dump funding for Home of Football

home_of_football.jpgFederal Member for Throsby Stephen Jones says there is no reason why the Coalition Government cannot honour the $7.4 million budgeted by Labor to start construction on the Home of Football in West Dapto.

This project is affordable and necessary and has bipartisan support across the region, said Jones.

It is in the budget and had been announced for funding, so for the new Government not to proceed with its development is just outrageous.

The Home of Football has enjoyed overwhelming support from the community and is a significant economic and social initiative that will generate hundreds of new jobs for the region, not to mention increase our sport-based tourism.

Once completed, the facility would provide a base for our two premier football teams and have the ability to host regional, state and national tournaments.

So it is ridiculous to claim that the Home of Football is not a project that would significantly improve our regional community.

Were now back to square one and will have to re-apply to be considered for federal funding to get the project off the ground, said Jones.

This is just another example of the Coalition taking our region for granted.

Tony Abbott told local during a visit last year not to ask the new Government for money because they wont get it. It seems he is making good on that promise.
