GOVERNMENT MISSING IN ACTION AGAIN ON ROYAL COMMISSION

Disturbing revelations on the ABC's 7.30 program  last night show the human cost of the Morrison Government’s inaction on the recommendations of the Banking Royal Commission.
 
Pam and Michael Hellen and Salahuddin Ahmed lost their life savings through no fault of their own.
 
They and more than 620 other victims of dodgy financial advice are stuck in legal limbo while the Government sits on its hands.
 
They deserve a compensation scheme of last resort.
 
The Royal Commission recommended a compensation scheme of last resort.
 
The Government announced it will implement a compensation scheme of last resort.
 
But there’s been no follow-through.
 
Ninety percent of the Royal Commission’s recommendations, including this one, remain unlegislated while the Treasurer dithers.
 
Australians deserve proper financial protections during the worst recession in a century, and the Government must deliver on its promises.
