The Jones Report - 14 June 2019

14 June 2019

Today we farewelled a great Australian - Bob Hawke.

I was lucky enough to join Bob's family, friends and colleagues from both sides of politics to send off one of Australia's greatest Prime Ministers.

The lights were dimmed at the Opera House, the hall was full.

It was a privilege to be there to be part of the tributes, celebrations and the last farewell to RJ Hawke.

Vale Bob.

This week the result for seat of Whitlam was officially declared.

It is a result I do not take for granted, and one that brings with it responsibility to represent my electorate.

I want to thank everyone who voted for me, and my staff and supporters who helped to re-elect me as the Member for Whitlam.

I want to congratulate my friend Fiona Phillips who this week officially became the Member for Gilmoreas the results were declared for her seat.

Fiona and her team have put in years of hard work that got her to where she is today.

I know she will be a fantastic representative for the South Coast.

Lastly, a shoutout to Moonacres Kitchen who took home a prize in the NSW/ACT Best Pie Competition.

I wasn't a judge, but I can definitely vouch for the product having sampled a few of their pies during my drives up and down Macquarie Pass over the years!
