Three not-for-profit language schools in the Illawarra have received a share in a total of $81,000 in funding, as part of the Albanese Government’s Community Language Schools Grant Program.
The schools include:
- Illawarra Burmese Language School Incorportated ($23,700).
- Illawarra Arabic Academy Incoporporated ($33,600).
- Illawarra Karen Language School Incorportated ($23,700).
They’re among more than 600 Community Language Schools in Australia that have received a share in around $15 million in funding for language education.
The funding allocated over a period of 2 years will directly assist 90,000 students across the country learning 84 different languages.
The program supports young Australians, including pre-schoolers to acquire a second language, and connect them to the languages of their parents, grandparents and broader communities.
