On Australia Day flags are flown with special meaning. Let's make sure our best is on display. If your Australian flag has seen better days I will replace it with a new one.

Local community organisations and up to 50 individuals need only ask and a new flag will be theirs just in time for national celebrations on Monday.

Now is the perfect time to take hold of a new flag.

Australia Day gives people from all backgrounds and walks of life the opportunity to come together as a nation and celebrate whats great about Australia and being Australian.

If you have your own flag you may choose to hang it in your front yard just in time for Australia Day.

In the lead up to the Australia Day long weekend, I will be visiting the Robertson School of Arts on Friday to present a brand new Australian flag.

I will be handing Korean War veteran Jack Skipper a new flag to be displayed in the war memorial garden located just next to the School of Arts hall.

Jack will be joined by several other veterans, including Mark Noble who has only just finished serving in Afghanistan.

Following the visit to Robertson I will be attending numerous community events on Australia Day itself.

In the morning I will be at the Shellharbour City Council Civic and Citizenship Ceremony where I will speak to new Australians and hand out Aboriginal flags, Torres Strait Islander flags and national Australian flags.

Later in the day I will be attending the official Australia Day celebrations in Berrima before joining another Citizenship Ceremony at the Wollongong Town Hall.

It will be a busy day and I am really looking forward to speaking to people about what Australia Day means for them and asking whether they have their own national flag at home.
