clean_energy_map.jpgIllawarra businesses and community groups are contributing to Australias low carbon future through investments in clean and renewable energy.

The Labor Government has launched a new interactive map that is able to track local businesses investments in a clean energy future, showing that Illawarra business are doing their bit.

The clean energy map details the actions local businesses, councils and community groups in the Illawarra, and across Australia, are taking to reduce carbon pollution, save energy costs and help the environment.

Local businesses have shown that they are using the carbon price revenue to invest in new technologies and processes to reduce their pollution.

The Clean Energy Map shows exactly where these improvements are occurring and I am extremely pleased to see those in our region, like the Oak Flats Bowling Club, are taking part.

The Map shows that 6 projects here in the Illawarra have been funded from measures such as the Large-Scale Renewable Energy Target,Community Energy Efficiency Program, Biodiversity Fund and the Carbon Neutral Program.

This map also shows that the carbon price is making a difference to the way organisations conduct their business, with over 1200 energy efficient and pollution-saving projects happening across Australia.

These businesses are making a remarkable contribution towards our Clean Energy Future and I encourage everyone to get online and see what great initiatives are taking place in our region.
