Federal Member for Throsby Stephen Jones is calling on the Federal Government and Australian Tax Office to do everything necessary to ensure Gujarat NRE workers are remunerated their unpaid wages and entitlements to allow them to get back to work.

Im calling on the Government and ATO to work with NRE for a swift resolution to this dispute so the company can recommence full operations, said Jones.

These workers are doing it tough. Theyve been without pay for five weeks now and it is having a knock-on effect to local businesses and the local economy.

Im told miners at Russell Vale and Wongawilli will cease work today.

They have been incredibly patient but have been working for over a month without pay, and with no end in sight.

Its in everyones interest to get this resolved immediately.
