MEDIA RELEASE

More than 80 local residents have attended today’s Moss Vale Seniors Morning Tea at the Moss Vale Senior Citizens and Community Centre.

Member for Whitlam Stephen Jones provided the community with up-to-date information on the Albanese Government’s support in healthcare, retirement income, cost-of-living relief and plans for a future made in Australia.

This includes:

  • The government’s record $6.1 billion investment in Medicare, cheaper medicines and getting more GPs into the country.
  • Cracking down on scammers, strengthening superannuation and increases to social security payments (including age pension, disability support pension and carer payment).
  • Energy bill relief, the launch of a review of supermarkets and increasing social and affordable housing.
  • Backing Australian manufacturing, clean energy, skills and infrastructure to power a new generation of jobs.

The Seniors Morning Tea featured a performance by students from Moss Vale Public School and a Q&A session with Mr Jones.

Community service providers were also on hand to provide assistance to attendees including:

  • Carer Gateway
  • Dementia Australia
  • Senior Rights Service
  • Each Connect
  • Southern Highlands Community Transport
  • Services Australia
  • NBN

“It was great to provide Moss Vale seniors an update on our government’s priorities, which includes cracking down on scammers, providing targeted cost of living relief that doesn’t add to inflation and our ambitious plans for a future made in Australia.

“I want to thank students from Moss Vale Public School and local service provider staff who took time out of their day to provide important information to our community.”
