LOCALS REMINDED THAT SUBMISSIONS ARE OPEN FOR ROYAL COMMISSION INTO AGED CARE

15 January 2019

Locals in the Illawarra and Southern Highlands arebeing reminded that it is now possible to makesubmissions to the Royal Commission into Aged Care.

Announced late last year, the Royal Commission will look into abuse and cover-ups in the aged care sector.

Labor has been saying for a long time that the aged care system is in a state of national crisis, and while there have been several inquiries into problems in the aged care sector, the Government hasnt acted.

The quality standards and reporting system arent working. There arent enough aged care workers and they arent given enough pay, respect or support.

Billions of dollars have been cut from aged care in the last five years by the Liberals. Mr Morrison cut almost $2 billion in his first year as Treasurer. You dont fix aged care by cutting funding. No wonder the system is in crisis.

A website that has been set up to provide information about the Terms of Reference, the work of the Royal Commission, how submissions can be made and when and where hearings will be held. Locals can follow the progress of the Royal Commission people by visiting this linkhttp://agedcare.royalcommission.gov.au/Pages/default.aspx
