MEDIA STATEMENT ON MOSS VALE PLASTICS RECYCLING FACILITY PROPOSAL
The NSW Government’s Independent Planning Commission is holding public meetings in Bowral this week.
The purpose of these is to hear directly from local residents on the proposal to establish a Plastics Recycling Facility in Moss Vale. The IPC also has the power under NSW law to make the final decision on the proposal.
I’m pleased that community concerns are being heard directly. This week has made it all the more clear that there are legitimate community concerns surrounding the proposal to develop a Plastics Recycling Facility in Moss Vale.
I have met with residents in the Moss Vale area who have expressed with me their deep concerns about the proposal. I share these.
I have also viewed the location of this proposed recycling facility, and it is my belief that it is in the wrong place.
I will separately be making a submission to the IPC in support of this position.
Because while recycling is a good thing for our community, it must occur in the right place.
