Federal MPs, Sharon Bird and Stephen Jones today welcomed the addition of more suburbs to the planned rollout over the next three years.
However, the MPs believe that many locals will remain very disappointed that they are getting the second rate fibre to the node technology under Malcolm Turnbull.
They also have concerns that this three year roll-out plan is not realistic and achievable and expressed concern that it appears that rather than a realistic construction plan, it is designed to get the Turnbull Liberal Government through the next election.
Sharon Bird said it is great that the outstanding campaigns run by locals in the northern suburbs (Disconnected 2508+) and the Bundeena-Maianbar Chamber of Commerce have seen these suburbs added to the planned list.
Residents across the northern parts of my electorate have been living with appalling quality broadband for far too long. At least they now have a target date for commencement of the NBN to their suburbs even it is this second rate version, Sharon Bird said.
Shellharbour locals will be pleased to get connected to the NBN, but leaving the last mile of copper in the ground is disappointing. Stephen Jones said,
The residents of Throsby should have the same quality of broadband as the Prime Minister has in his electorate.
