MEDIA RELEASE
Federal Member for Whitlam Stephen Jones has today inspected the Country Women’s Association Bowral Branch’s new refurbished kitchen.
The local project was provided $20,000 in funding under Round 8 of the Albanese Government’s Stronger Communities program.
The Stronger Communities Programme (SCP) provides grants of between $2,500 and $20,000 to community organisations and local governments for small capital projects that deliver social benefits for local communities.
Round 8 of the program is providing a total of $22.7 million to fund small capital projects across Australia. It’s part of the government's 2022–23 budget initiatives focused on making local economies stronger and boosting community organisations.
Quotes attributable to Member for Whitlam Stephen Jones:
“It was great to meet with CWA Bowral Branch President Helen Kent and members to examine this newly refurbished kitchen. These women do an incredible job providing social activities and meals for people in our community. I know this will be put to good use.”
“Earlier this year, the Albanese Government committed $20,000 in funding for this local project under the Stronger Communities program, as part of our commitment to the Southern Highlands community.”
