NGUNUNGGULA ART GALLERY NOW POWERED BY SOLAR AND BATTERIES THANKS TO ALBANESE GOVERNMENT

The Ngununggula Southern Highlands Regional Gallery is now powered by self-sufficient solar power and batteries.

It comes after Member for Whitlam, Stephen Jones secured $450,000 in Commonwealth funding for the local project in 2022.

The newly completed project has been delivered under the Albanese Government’s Investing in Our Communities Program in partnership with Ngununggula Southern Highlands Regional Gallery.

It includes:

  • A solar array for the gallery building.
  • A photovoltaic battery storage system.
  • Fencing for the solar array.

New solar and batteries installed at Ngununggula will drive down energy bills for the free gallery which is visited by thousands of locals and tourists every year. Around a dozen local jobs were supported during the construction of the project, which began in February of this year.

This has made a big difference to Ngununggula. By switching to solar, the gallery has been able to free up funds for important community education programs.

Under the Investing in Our Communities Program, the Government is delivering community and sporting infrastructure, open space improvements and other community priorities nationwide intended to assist communities to build their strengths and improve liveability.
