SHELLHARBOUR SENIORS MORNING TEA DECLARED A SELL-OUT

Around 150 local residents have registered to attend the free Shellharbour Seniors Morning Tea at the Shellharbour Civic Centre later this morning.

Hosted by Member for Whitlam Stephen Jones, attendees will receive up-to-date information on the Albanese Government’s support in healthcare, retirement income, cost of living relief, retirement income and plans for a future made in Australia.

This includes:

  • The government’s record $6.1 billion investment in Medicare, making it cheaper and easier to see a GP, an update on the new Shellharbour Hospital site and increases to aged care and nurse wages.
  • Cracking down on scammers, strengthening superannuation and increases to social security payments (including age pension, disability support pension and carer payment).
  • Energy bill relief, cheaper medicines and increases to social and affordable housing in the Illawarra.
  • Getting wages moving again, creating jobs, managing the economy and tackling inflation as well as supporting local jobs.

The Senior’s Morning Tea will feature a performance by students from Lake Illawarra High School, a Welcome and Acknowledgement of Country and a Q&A session.

Several community service providers also be in attendance to provide information, including:

  • Hearing Australia
  • Senior Rights Service
  • MCCI
  • Illawarra Women’s Health Centre
