The Southern Highlands Botanic Gardens Education Centre is now complete.

Member for Whitlam Stephen Jones has attended the official opening of the $772,000 project, which is now ready for local students to use.

At the 2022 federal election, Labor committed $500,000 in funding towards the Centre as part of the Investing In Our Communities program.

The new multi-purpose Education Centre which is now delivered will enable local school excursions and other groups to learn about local flaura and fauna, sustainable gardening practices, horticulture and conservation, as well as how to care for Australia’s environment.

The centre features:

• An education room;
• Kitchenette.
• Clock tower.
• Carpark.
• Accessible pathways.
• Solar panels.
• Air conditioning.
• AV equipment.
• NBN Co connection.
• Storerooms.
