Our campaign to get even more local homes and businesses included on the next stage of the NBN rollout has been successful.
Myvision for our regionis one with a strong economy that can provide jobs for us and our children and having the NBN connected to my whole electorate is a critical part of that vision.
With the release of NBN Cos next rollout plan - almost all of my electorate of Throsby is scheduled to be connected up to fibre.
So this is great news for us all, but particularly for people living in the Southern Highlands, Albion Park and Oak Flats and those that have been campaigning hard for this like the Albion Park Chamber of Commerce.
Due to our strong push in Canberra there are already 12,433 homes and businesses in and around Throsby where the fibre network is under construction or almost completed. Just last week, a constituent sent in this photograph of workers connecting fibre along Emerson Road in Dapto (Youll know that Fibre is going into your street when you see work crews rolling out green cable like this).
I am advised that I can expect that by 2016 Labors NBN will be connecting to more than 60,000 local homes and businesses. Check when your home or business is scheduled to be connected.

Our existing telecommunications system is based on a copper network that was designed for voice calls only and not to transmit large amounts of data. And this is the reason that the Labor Government has made investment in high speed broadband infrastructure a top priority.
The National Broadband Network is the largest nation-building project in Australian history which will transform our economy, drive future growth and productivity, lead to new innovative health services and help our children get the best education in the world. Under our NBN policy, every home, business, school and hospital will receive high speed broadband and no one will be left behind.
I strongly support the National Broadband Network because I believe it is a prudent investment in the long-term productivity, growth of our whole economy and Australia's future prosperity.
