MINISTER FOR FINANCIAL SERVICES
MEMBER FOR WHITLAM
Ahead of International Youth Day, high school students from Shellharbour have today attended a Youth Leaders Roundtable in Warilla, hosted by Member for Whitlam Stephen Jones.
The roundtable, held annually since 2010 provides an opportunity for local youth to engage with one another and their local Federal MP.
Schools represented by years 9 to 11 students included:
- Warilla High School.
- Shellharbour Anglican College.
- Albion Park High School.
- St Joseph's Catholic High School Albion Park.
- Illawarra Sports High School.
- Dapto High School.
At the forum, students discussed mental health, education opportunities, housing, and the Voice to Parliament Referendum.
After the roundtable, the Assistant Treasurer and Minister for Financial Services will then share student ideas in Parliament. This will provide a platform for local voices to be heard by the likes of the Prime Minister, Anthony Albanese.
Quotes attributable to Member for Whitlam, Stephen Jones:
“These kids are the future leaders of our community, and our country. It’s important their voices are heard on issues that directly affect them.”
“As the local Member for Whitlam, and a representative of the Federal Government I value listening to the next generation’s needs. It’s important they are provided the best possible opportunities in the future.”
“I am looking forward to taking their ideas straight to Parliament, where both sides of the house will be able to listen to what they have to say.”
