SUBJECTS: Federal anti-corruption body

STEPHEN JONES, SHADOW MINISTER FOR REGIONAL COMMUNICATIONS: Well with over 4,700 reports of corrupt incidents across the Australian Public Service the Prime Minister can no longer contend that a federal anti-corruption body is a fringe issue.

We know that the chaos and dysfunction within the Liberal Party has pushed this, along with so many other issues, off the agenda.

Whether it's a plan for energy or a plan for dealing with integrity and corruption that chaos and dysfunction inside the Liberal Party means they have stopped governing, they've just stopped governing.

Clearly it's time for the Australian people to decide how we're going to move forward on these issues.

We can no longer wait for the government to get its act together before we can get our act together as a country on the really big issues, whether it's dealing with corruption, whether it's dealing with Energy prices and putting in place a bipartisan long-term plan for energy.

These are big challenges that Australia needs to tackle and the government is clearly incapable of doing it.
